Preview AC Milan Training Camp Call-Ups: Theo and Bennacer Out

Squad gathers at Milanello tonight, Allegri`s press conference and first training session tomorrow. Adli and Vasquez also excluded as expected. Torriani, Nava, Liberali, and Vos among young call-ups.

AC Milan players` holidays are officially over. The squad will gather at Milanello this evening and hold their first training session tomorrow with Massimiliano Allegri. Milan is the first Scudetto contender to begin pre-season, hoping the weeks` advantage over Inter and Juve (who just returned from the US) will make a difference.

Theo and Bennacer Out, Like Adli

Two expected and confirmed exclusions: Theo Hernandez and Ismael Bennacer are not on the list and will not be present tomorrow. They received extra days of vacation, having played with their national teams up to a month ago, and crucially, they are openly on the transfer market. Theo, in particular, is very close to joining Al Hilal, with only the final economic agreement pending. Devis Vasquez and Yacine Adli were also not called up; Adli, despite having openly stated his desire to stay at Milan, was rejected by Allegri and the club, deemed too similar to other players in the squad. New signing Samuele Ricci is immediately included.

Youngsters on the List

Six young players have been called up, plus Davide Bartesaghi, who is now effectively part of the first team squad. There are two goalkeepers: Lorenzo Torriani, who played against Liverpool last year due to Maignan`s injury, and Lapo Nava, a homegrown player. One full-back: Vittorio Magni. Three midfielders: the son of former player, Christian Comotto, Mattia Liberali, and Silvano Vos, who was disappointing in his first season at Milan.

The Full Squad List

This is the complete list:

  • Goalkeepers: Maignan, Nava, Sportiello, Torriani.
  • Defenders: Bartesaghi, Emerson Royal, Gabbia, Jimenez, Magni, Pavlovic, Thiaw, Tomori.
  • Midfielders: Bondo, Comotto, Fofana, Liberali, Loftus-Cheek, Musah, Pobega, Ricci, Saelemaekers, Vos.
  • Forwards: Chukwueze, Colombo, Leao, Okafor, Pulisic.
