ARPA Lazio (the regional environmental protection agency) has initiated an investigation into potential contamination at the site designated for AS Roma’s new stadium in Pietralata. Technicians from the club detected levels exceeding limits for various chemical elements and heavy metals, including arsenic, lead, heavy hydrocarbons, cobalt, and mercury.
AS Roma promptly reported these findings and is actively collaborating with the competent authorities to thoroughly analyze the situation and define any necessary corrective measures. Should these contamination levels be confirmed, significant remediation efforts would be required. The club has stated its readiness to follow all instructions from the authorities to ensure the safety of the surrounding environment and the future users of the facility.
