Preview Asllani, a Transfer Case for Inter: Prefers Italy Over Abroad

Inter values the midfielder at around 15 million euros, but he has so far said no to Betis and other foreign paths. Two Serie A clubs remain in the background.

Inter Milan`s Kristjan Asllani celebrates after scoring

Little changes between Italian and Albanian: in our language we say `no`, in Kristjan Asllani`s language they use `jo`. The Inter midfielder is using it a lot. His clear priority is to stay in Italy, but only offers from abroad have arrived at the club`s headquarters. Asllani has studied them, analyzed them, and in the end said `no`. Or `jo`, you choose. This is why the management has started to show some frustration.

How many noes

The Nerazzurri`s number 21 is becoming a notable situation. Inter`s directors, Marotta and Ausilio, would like to cash in around 15 million euros from his sale, but in Italy – at least so far – no one seems willing to shell out a similar figure, or at least invest in a permanent transfer. While Bologna and Fiorentina are reported to be interested, Asllani is also liked abroad. Betis, finalists of the last Conference League, have been particularly insistent, meeting with his agent and attempting to initiate negotiations, but the player has refused a move to La Liga. Inter prefers a permanent sale over loans or other formulas to raise funds (around twelve million is needed) to invest in other positions. Asllani is part of a group of players expected to be sold this summer, which includes Buchanan, Esposito, and Aleksandar Stankovic. The overall goal from these sales is to bring in at least 40 million euros. Fiorentina could indeed be a viable solution: Asllani was born in Albania but grew up near Florence in Buti, about an hour`s drive from the city center. Before becoming a professional footballer, he worked as a waiter at local festivals. A transfer to Fiorentina under Pioli would represent a sort of return to his roots.

Chapter Closed?

Currently, he has only turned down offers from foreign clubs. Kristjan concluded a disappointing season, failing to perform particularly in big matches (like the Coppa Italia semi-final return leg lost 3-0). Coach Chivu started him in all four matches of the World Cup (likely referring to the FIFA Club World Cup), but he did not impress, especially against Fluminense in the quarterfinals. His journey with the Nerazzurri, which began in 2022 after an excellent season at Empoli (whose stadium is the Castellani), seems destined to end after 99 appearances over three seasons. However, for the move to happen, he must first give his `yes`.
