Atalanta is gearing up for their home debut in the Champions League, facing Club Brugge. Coach Ivan Juric provided insights into the upcoming second-day match of the Champions League, scheduled for tomorrow evening. The press conference commenced around 8:00 PM.
How strong is the desire for redemption after the PSG match?
“For us, it`s a crucial match, especially considering last year`s playoff elimination. We are determined to redeem ourselves and fight for victory.”
Is a three-man attack being considered, despite the need for energy management?
“We would love to have all players available. Our goal is to win the match, but we are also mindful not to over-exert the players too much. The lads are in good condition, and I am confident.”
How is the team performing offensively?
“We have improved significantly in attack, but without defensive solidity, you cannot achieve anything. The entire team showed great sacrifice against Juventus; this spirit is also essential for securing positive results.”
What kind of opponent do you anticipate in Club Brugge?
“They are an excellent and well-drilled team, with many talented players who have been together since last year. It`s not a period of excessive fatigue for them; the season is still long. Sometimes, from a physical standpoint, it`s actually better to play frequently across league and cup competitions. They are a team that never gives up. Last year, penalty aside, they proved to be a very strong group that impressed me greatly. They are compact and compete equally against everyone; just look at their performance against Monaco.”
Will Lookman and Ederson play tomorrow?
“Ademola has been training with us for a while now, and I`m starting to seriously consider him, as well as Ede. They are two important players whom we need to reintroduce into our rotations.”
What atmosphere do you expect for tomorrow`s match?
“I was disappointed not to see our fans during the away matches in Turin. For tomorrow, I expect a magnificent atmosphere, generated by a passionate crowd that always stands by the team.”
What is the impact of injuries on the team?
“Injuries are certainly a factor, but other players who have been called upon, such as Djimsiti and Ahanor, have performed well. For a coach, this is a great sign because they trained exceptionally well during the period they weren`t playing. I am eager to have the full squad back; I hope that after the international break, we can recover some players and improve our situation.”
Coach Juric`s press conference concludes here.
