Preview Barcelona Secures Marc Bernal’s Future Until 2029

Barcelona has officially announced the contract extension of Marc Bernal until 2029. The young Spanish midfielder, born in 2007, signed his new agreement with the Blaugrana at the club`s offices. The signing took place in the presence of president Joan Laporta and the club`s sporting directors.

Bernal, at 18 years old, is considered one of the most promising talents emerging from Barcelona`s acclaimed youth academy. He sustained a serious injury in Vallecas on August 27, 2024, which kept him sidelined for a full year. Following his recovery, he made his return to the pitch, playing a few minutes against Valencia and subsequently a brief minute against Oviedo. Coach Hansi Flick has already outlined a clear plan for his development: Bernal will be gradually reintroduced to the field, with his playing time carefully managed as he continues his recovery from the severe knee issue.

According to the official statement from the club, “FC Barcelona and player Marc Bernal have reached an agreement for the renewal of the player`s contract until June 2029. The signing took place on Monday morning at the Club`s offices, in the presence of Barça president Joan Laporta, first vice-president Rafael Yuste, and director of the football area, Deco.”
