Bayer Leverkusen has officially announced the signing of promising young talent Christian Kofane, born in 2006, from Spanish second division club Albacete.
The Bundesliga champions confirmed the acquisition of the 18-year-old Cameroonian centre-forward, who arrives from Albacete Balompié on a contract valid until June 30, 2029.
Kofane is described as an extremely powerful, fast, and technically gifted forward with a very assertive style of play. Bayer 04 sporting director Simon Rolfes commented on the signing, highlighting the player`s potential:
“With his strengths, he will add even more variety to our game and has the potential to become an important part of our team in the coming years.”
Standing 1.89 meters tall, Kofane was considered one of the breakthrough players in LaLiga 2 last season. He had only moved to Albacete from his native Cameroon in the autumn of 2024. After initially playing for the club`s Under 19 team, Kofane transitioned to the first team after the winter break, making 20 appearances and scoring eight goals while providing one assist.
Expressing his excitement about joining Bayer Leverkusen, Kofane stated:
“It is incredible to me that, after such a short time in Europe, I now play for a Champions League club. I will give my best to seize this opportunity in the Bundesliga. The history of Bayer Leverkusen is full of examples of young players who have achieved great things here.”
