Benfica has announced a significant signing: Rafael Obrador is the newest player for the Eagles. The left-back, joining from Real Madrid, had attracted interest from several European clubs, including Genoa in Italy. However, he ultimately decided on the Portuguese club, with the transfer reportedly part of an operation that could see Álvaro Carreras move in the opposite direction, from Portugal to Spain.
The 2004-born player has signed a long-term contract with Benfica, keeping him at the club until 2030. This demonstrates the club`s clear confidence in his abilities and future potential. According to reports from O Jogo, Benfica paid Real Madrid a fee of approximately five million euros to secure the left-sided player`s signature.
Benfica also released an official statement announcing the transfer: “Left-back Obrador, 21 years old, is a new addition to the Sport Lisboa e Benfica professional football squad. He has signed a contract with the club until 2030, transferring from Real Madrid to Da Luz.”
