Preview Bizzotto: Napoli Looks Impressive, Milan Can Compete But Losing Reijnders Hurts

Speaking to TMW on the sidelines of the Versilia Football Planet event, Rai`s Stefano Bizzotto, fresh from presenting his book `History of the World in 12 Football Matches`, offered his thoughts on the current football landscape.

“Conte intrigues me,” Bizzotto stated. “Among the top sides, Napoli is the only one to have kept the same coach. They are building a great team; the signings are really impressive. I`m not sure if they can challenge on all fronts, but I can imagine that as the season progresses, they might focus significant physical and mental energy on the Champions League.”

What will Allegri`s Milan be like?

“The new coach [note: likely referring to the upcoming season`s team under Pioli, not Allegri who coaches Juventus] knows his business,” Bizzotto commented. “I see the Rossoneri being protagonists, even though they have lost important players like Reijnders, who is a stellar player.”

Inter and Juve?

“There are various question marks for Inter, even regarding internal dressing room dynamics. For Juve, David is a great signing; he has an eye for goal and contributes to play. However, he needs a bit of time to settle.”

Pioli returns to Fiorentina…

“He won a Scudetto at Milan, which was a monumental achievement. If that`s the Pioli they are getting, Fiorentina fans can be delighted. Obviously, the squad needs to be assembled afterwards. Kean? There are Premier League teams with no difficulty spending 52 million. But if I were Kean, who has found his dimension at Fiorentina [note: Kean plays for Juventus, not Fiorentina], I would think a hundred times before going elsewhere.”
