Bologna`s summer transfer window activity continues, with a clear focus in recent days on bringing back experienced Italian players. These are profiles of footballers who have been part of the National team setup in recent years but moved away from Italy seeking new opportunities, and are now ready to return to the Serie A stage.
The signing of Ciro Immobile appears to be the closest to completion. He reportedly traveled to Turkey yesterday to finalize the termination of his contract with Besiktas, clearing the path for him to sign with Bologna. The former Lazio forward is expected to agree a one-year deal with the Rossoblù, which also includes an option to extend until 2027. Among Immobile`s potential targets is the opportunity to climb the all-time Serie A goalscoring charts; he is currently eighth and could reach the podium by scoring another 24 league goals.
Following closely, Federico Bernardeschi could also be heading to Bologna. Recent denials are gradually shifting towards cautious confirmations, although finalising the deal (`white smoke`) still requires further agreement on the economic terms and the duration of the contract between the parties. However, the former Juventus and Fiorentina player is being considered as a potential replacement for Ndoye, and this option could become the preferred one if negotiations progress positively.
