Former striker Marco Borriello shared his insights on the Serie A Scudetto race during an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport. He commented, “It`s still too early to make definitive judgments. I`m pleased that AS Roma has embarked on a sensible journey, which was certainly long overdue. However, honestly, I don`t currently see them as a Scudetto-winning team. So far, the results under the Friedkin ownership haven`t been entirely satisfactory. My hope is that Roma can secure a Champions League qualification spot this year. Despite positive signs, Inter remains the strongest team, Napoli possesses a formidable figure like Conte, and AC Milan executed an excellent transfer window.”
Borriello also recounted a past incident involving an argument with coach Gian Piero Gasperini during their time at Genoa. He confirmed, “It`s true. It happened in the Parma locker room. There was no physical contact, but certainly some less-than-polite words were exchanged… He reprimanded me, and I retorted sharply. However, with the benefit of hindsight, I can now say he was right. We now share an excellent relationship; he even invited me to Trigoria, so I will definitely go to visit him eventually. At that period, I was less focused than usual because I had already finalized my move to AC Milan.”
