“They surprised us a bit with their formation,” Chivu admitted after the match. “We managed to break the deadlock but couldn`t seal the win sooner, which allowed them to gain confidence. We are happy with the victory.
“Regarding Pio Esposito, let`s take it easy; he`s a 2005-born player, we must never forget that. He needs to keep working hard; he`s an important player, but he must remain grounded. I know him, and he`s even surprising me with how well he`s doing, but we shouldn`t demand too much. He plays for the team, has quality, and fears nothing. I`m glad he scored, as it makes him more confident.
“We hit the post twice, and I`d prefer to talk about that rather than what we conceded. Cagliari is the tallest team in Europe. We didn`t concede any goals, which was also important. Our midfielders showcased their quality; they are good, and I have a thousand choices to make based on the matches, which makes my selection process difficult.”
