The return to the field for footballer Gaetano Castrovilli was unfortunately overshadowed by a distressing incident following his team’s draw against Avellino. The bitterness stemmed not from the match itself—or even Castrovilli’s positive performance after a two-week injury layoff—but from the hateful messages directed at his family in the post-game environment.
It appears that the toxicity of online “haters” remains untempered, as they targeted the player`s loved ones with horrific threats.
As revealed in an Instagram story published by Castrovilli`s wife, Rachele Risaliti (former Miss Italia 2016), an individual privately messaged the influencer, explicitly wishing death upon the couple`s child. The vile message read:
“May cancer devour you all! May your children and everything you have die!”
Risaliti quickly published the message and issued a strong response via her social media, confirming that she intends to report the incident to the competent legal authorities. She accompanied the screenshot of the received message with her own commentary:
“Be aware that we will report this! Messages and comments of this nature are being read too often—it is disgusting, a disgrace. There are far too many occurrences lately. Football should be a moment of fun and enjoyment, despite everything. I am truly disheartened, sad, and sickened by all of this.”
