Following a standout season as a regular starter and quiet leader in the defense for Dolomiti Bellunesi, Denis Chiesa will not be part of the roster competing in Serie C next season. His departure is both unexpected and disappointing, as the defender born in 1998 explained to the Corriere delle Alpi newspaper. In the interview, he shared his deep regret about an outcome he described as “inevitable but painful.”
Chiesa shared his disappointment, stating that achieving Serie C with his local club was a dream he hoped to continue living, especially as he felt he was valued for leadership. He mentioned receiving a contract draft in November, but discussions stalled until February. By June, before his vacation, he believed an agreement was reached. However, while he was away, he learned the club had opted for different players, citing technical rather than financial reasons.
Despite his letdown, Chiesa remains optimistic and accepting of the club`s decision. He firmly believes he has proven himself capable of playing in Serie C. He stated that if he needs to play at a lower level, he will do so humbly but will continue to pursue his goal of returning to Serie C. “I know how football works, and I respect the choice,” he commented. “However, I remain convinced that I can play in Serie C, because I earned it. If I have to restart from a lower category, I will do so with humility, but without stopping believing in it.”
The defender concluded by expressing respect for the people at the club, including a handshake farewell with Giugliarelli. He admitted he expected the core winning squad to be kept together with the confirmation of coach Zanini, but this did not happen. He is now focused on finding his next opportunity, stating, “Now I look ahead.”
