Preview Di Michele: Cagliari’s Organization and Belotti’s Impact

In a recent interview, former footballer David Di Michele offered his insights into Cagliari`s current performance under coach Pisacane. He highlighted that despite Pisacane being a young coach making his Serie A debut, the team is delivering significant results and strong performances. Di Michele characterized Cagliari as a compact, cohesive, and remarkably well-organized side.

Di Michele further noted that the team`s offensive effectiveness has been considerably diminished following Belotti`s injury. Belotti, an experienced player, had made an excellent start to the season and served as a crucial reference point for both the coach and his younger teammates. He specifically mentioned that Sebastiano Esposito, in particular, would have had the opportunity to accelerate his development even more rapidly with the support of “Gallo” (Belotti`s nickname).

When questioned about whether Bologna are favorites for the upcoming Sunday match, Di Michele asserted that in modern football, there are rarely any clear favorites. He likened matches to strategic chess games, where the key determinants are the characteristics and motivation of the players on the field. While acknowledging Bologna`s undoubtedly deep squad, well-suited for managing three weekly fixtures, and their substantial reinforcements in the transfer market—including high-caliber, internationally experienced players like Immobile and Bernardeschi, alongside existing key figures such as Castro, Orsolini, Skorupski, and De Silvestri—Di Michele emphasized that Cagliari could rely on its strong organizational structure. He concluded that Sunday`s match would be open to any outcome, a classic “triple” bet with no definite favorite.
