L`esperienza di Darío “Pipa” Benedetto con il Newell`s Old Boys si è conclusa. Dopo il cambio di allenatore e l`arrivo di Lucas Bernardi come tecnico ad interim, l`attaccante è stato informato che non rientrava più nei progetti della squadra. In seguito, club e giocatore hanno raggiunto un accordo per la rescissione consensuale del contratto.
Giunto a Rosario a giugno, Benedetto non è riuscito a lasciare il segno: nove presenze senza reti, accompagnate da infortuni, hanno caratterizzato il suo breve e deludente percorso con la “Lepra”. Un episodio emblematico della sua sfortuna è stato il rigore clamorosamente fallito contro il Belgrano a Córdoba. Dopo aver lasciato il Boca Juniors nel 2024, l`attaccante non ha ritrovato la sua migliore forma né al Querétaro in Messico, né all`Olimpia in Paraguay nella prima metà del 2025. La conclusione del rapporto con il Newell’s aggiunge un capitolo amaro per un giocatore che, fino a non molto tempo fa, era annoverato tra i più prolifici attaccanti del Sud America.

Following a coaching change and the arrival of Lucas Bernardi as interim coach, the striker was informed that he was no longer part of the team`s plans. Subsequently, the club and player reached an agreement for the mutual termination of his contract.
Arriving in Rosario in June, Benedetto failed to make an impact: nine appearances without a single goal, compounded by injuries, marked his brief and disappointing spell with “La Lepra.” A symbolic moment of his misfortune was the glaring penalty miss against Belgrano in Córdoba. Coach Bernardi, a former midfielder and winner of the Torneo Final 2013 with Newell`s, decided to focus on other players for the remainder of the season, accelerating what already seemed like an imminent departure.
