The Brazilian full-back hasn`t played since January 22nd. He doesn`t appear to be part of AC Milan`s plans and could potentially make a return to Spain, where he previously played from 2019 to 2021.

Emerson Royal might be heading back to Real Betis in Spain. Discussions are reportedly taking place in Seville with the Brazilian defender`s representatives to see if a return to his former club is feasible. Emerson previously played for Betis from January 2019 until the summer of 2021, before short stints at Barcelona and Tottenham.
Emerson and Milan
Emerson Royal is not considered part of AC Milan`s project for the upcoming season. The club intends to completely overhaul the right flank. Royal himself hasn`t featured for Milan since January 22nd. He was close to leaving Milan for Galatasaray but suffered a calf tear during a Champions League match on January 22nd, which was his last appearance for the Rossoneri. Since then, he has not worn the Milan shirt.
Milan will attempt to sell him in the coming weeks and, failing that, will seek a loan solution in the latter part of the transfer window. His seasonal record stands at 7 appearances in the Champions League, 17 in Serie A, and 2 in the Super Cup. Overall, his performance has been considered disappointing, particularly due to a poor start to the season. During his six months at the club, he was one of the players most targeted by social media criticism, sometimes excessively so. However, the €15 million signing will likely be remembered as one of the least productive acquisitions in recent years.
