Empoli is preparing for a significant change in its coaching staff, as Guido Pagliuca is reportedly set to be dismissed from his role. Despite a recent victory against Sudtirol, the Tuscan club`s management has decided to conclude his tenure, which began just this summer, in search of a new direction for the team.
Pagliuca`s dismissal is expected to be formalized in the coming hours, while the club is already actively searching for his replacement. Alessio Dionisi has emerged as the leading candidate and strong favorite to make a return to the Empoli bench at the Castellani stadium.
Sources indicate that negotiations with Dionisi are already well underway. The coach is currently working to finalize his contract termination with Palermo, and once that is completed, a swift agreement with Empoli is anticipated.
For Dionisi, this would mark a highly anticipated return to the club, following his extraordinary 2020/21 season that culminated in Empoli`s promotion to Serie A. This time, his primary objective will be to revitalize a team that, after eight matchdays, currently occupies twelfth place in Serie B with nine points, accumulated from two victories, three draws, and three defeats.
