Preview Fabiani on Sarri Resignation Rumors: ‘Contracts Start July 1st, These Are Inventions’

Angelo Fabiani, the sports director for Lazio, recently gave a lengthy interview to the specialized portal LaLazioSiamoNoi.it, covering numerous topics. He reiterated his consistent stance: “I have always maintained that Lazio would never sell its top players, particularly not within Italy to clubs who could `compete equally` for important objectives. This is precisely what is occurring.”

Fabiani then further explained, specifically addressing the topic of `Sarri`s resignation` that had been widely reported: “Sarri was informed about the situation later, just as President Lotito and I became aware afterwards. This prompted us to revisit certain matters with the coach. I`ve heard widespread talk of resignations, but absolutely nothing of that nature ever reached us, not least because contracts formally commence on July 1st. So, what resignations are we discussing? These are purely fabrications.” He praised the coach, adding, “Sarri displayed professionalism, dedication, and a profound sense of loyalty.”

The Lazio director concluded by reflecting on Sarri`s initial departure in March 2024: “We parted on excellent terms then, during a challenging personal period for the coach, which can happen to anyone. He had the option to step aside as circumstances had shifted, but becoming aware of something after the fact is different from deliberately misleading someone. The relationship with President Lotito and myself is so strong and significant that fabricating the true state of affairs for him was simply out of the question.” Fabiani voiced his frustration with media speculation: “I grasp the dynamics at play, including the fact that sensational nonsense often garners more attention than the simple truth. What`s regrettable is the subsequent spread of misinformation. Clearly, everyone involved has their own specific agenda.” He offered advice to commentators: “My message to those gentlemen venturing these pronouncements is that they ought first to conduct their research, understand the regulations and facts, and only then attempt to formulate sensible arguments.”
