ROLE:
Forward
TEAM:
Juventus

A significant signing for Juventus, who secure the services of Jonathan David on a free transfer.

Born in the USA to Haitian parents but raised in Canada from the age of six, David began his professional career in Belgium with Gent in 2018. From his first two seasons with the Buffalo`s, he proved to be a prolific forward, scoring 14 goals in 43 matches in his debut year. The following season, at just 19, he won the Jupiler Pro League top scorer title with 18 goals in 27 games, adding 5 goals in 13 Europa League appearances. His qualities did not go unnoticed by nearby Lille, who signed him for approximately €30 million. His first year in Ligue 1 was his least productive in terms of goals (13 in 48 matches), but it was highly important for the team, contributing to their league title and French Super Cup victory. In the subsequent four seasons, David`s performance consistently improved in terms of goals scored, surpassing 20 total goals in the last three campaigns across all competitions. The 2022-2023 season, however, was the only year he exceeded 20 goals specifically in the league. In total for Lille, he scored 109 goals in 232 appearances, complemented by 30 assists. He is the starting center-forward for the Canadian national team, debuting at 18 with a brace in 2018. He has decisively contributed to the Canucks` growth with 36 goals in 68 matches, helping the team achieve important results such as their second-ever World Cup appearance in 2022 and a fourth-place finish in the Copa América in 2024, quickly becoming their all-time leading scorer.

David can operate both as a central striker or a second striker. His primary characteristic is an innate goal-scoring instinct, confirmed by his 182 professional goals for club and country. He is a player who likes to roam extensively in the attacking third to avoid giving defenders fixed reference points and is lethal in front of goal.

Fantacalcio Advice: We are talking about a forward who contributed to a significant 37 goals (25 goals and 12 assists) for Lille last season. Therefore, recommending him as a 1st slot attacker for your squad is essential. That said, the situation regarding Juventus`s other central forwards in the transfer market will need careful evaluation, particularly concerning Kolo Muani, whose future is still uncertain. Vlahovic, on the other hand, seems to have fallen out with the club and would likely start as an alternative to the main striker in any case. In this sense, if the Frenchman (Kolo Muani) were to stay, it would be difficult to bench him, but a two-striker formation with Yildiz playing behind them could also be a possibility.
