Former coach Sauro Fattori recently shared his insights on various football topics during his appearance on TMW Radio`s Maracanà show. Here are some of his key comments:
Rafael Leao and Milan: A Turning Point with Allegri?
Fattori acknowledged Rafael Leao`s inherent quality but stressed that his performance must be judged by concrete results. “I hope Allegri can improve him in certain aspects, otherwise he could become a burden,” Fattori stated. He believes Leao is “overrated in some aspects” and, despite being treated as a top player, still needs to prove he truly belongs at that elite level. “I`ve always admired Allegri, but in my opinion, Leao must demonstrate something worthy of a top player,” he added.
Parma and Cuesta: The Reality of Football Experience
Commenting on Cuesta, Fattori agreed with Cherubini`s remarks but emphasized that “football is a language unto itself.” He drew a parallel to Mikel Arteta at Arsenal, who manages the human aspect, suggesting that “if you haven`t experienced certain things, books won`t teach them to you.” This highlights the irreplaceable value of practical experience in the sport.
Juventus and the Club World Cup: A Test Against City?
Regarding Juventus`s upcoming Club World Cup match against Manchester City, Fattori dismissed its significance. “It counts for nothing,” he asserted. For him, the real tests begin from the knockout stages of major competitions, where it`s “do or die.” He suggested that tonight`s match might involve some experimentation, but the more critical games are yet to come.
Fiorentina`s Striker Options: Post-Kean Scenarios
When asked about potential replacements for Kean at Fiorentina, considering Sebastiano Esposito, Pio Esposito, or Piccoli, Fattori expressed dissatisfaction. “I wouldn`t be satisfied,” he admitted, although he views Piccoli as “the most reliable of the three.” He concluded with a pragmatic “then we`ll see about football,” acknowledging the unpredictable nature of transfers and player performance.
