It`s Jacopo Fazzini`s day at Fiorentina: the Viola club officially announced the arrival of the midfielder in the evening. Ivo Coli, who was president of Capezzano Pianore (the Tuscan club where Fazzini started playing), commented on his move to the Viola in an interview with Europacalcio.it.
Here are his statements: “Jacopo at Fiorentina? Just so you know, I`m not a Viola fan (laughs, editor`s note). Jokes aside, I wish him the very best for this new, significant stage of his career. He joins a team aiming for the top positions, a notable step forward. Did I expect it? In a way, yes, because Jacopo is very close to his family, especially his sister. Going to Fiorentina allows him to stay near home.”
“We`ll have to see which position on the field he`ll be assigned. However, considering that Fiorentina signed Jacopo already certain of Pioli`s arrival, it`s likely the coach will rely on him. Therefore, I answer affirmatively to the question about his importance. Jacopo fought with great tenacity for Empoli, despite the unfortunate relegation. His contribution was crucial; I`m convinced that without his injury, Empoli would have avoided dropping to Serie B.”
