Fiorentina has a clear and urgent objective: to complete the renovation and restyling work at their Artemio Franchi stadium as swiftly as possible. To facilitate this, construction has been accelerated during the summer months when no matches are scheduled. The club’s strategy is to maximize this uninterrupted period for the works, ensuring that the progress of the building site is not slowed or broken up by home fixtures.
Request for Mapei Stadium Availability
In pursuit of this goal, the Viola club has officially approached Sassuolo to inquire about the availability of the Mapei Stadium in Reggio Emilia. Fiorentina intends to use this venue for their home leg of the Conference League playoffs. While the precise date remains dependent on the draw, it is confirmed to be either August 21 or 28. Fiorentina is keen to secure the longest possible continuous period for the stadium`s renovation—approximately four months, stretching from the end of the last Serie A season to their first home game of the 2025/26 campaign. This extensive timeframe is critical to ensure the Artemio Franchi is fully prepared to celebrate its centenary in June 2026, including the reopening of the Curva Fiesole stand, which has been closed for two seasons.
Away Matches Until Mid-September
Further demonstrating their commitment to uninterrupted renovation work, Fiorentina has not only requested to play their European season opener at Mapei, but has also successfully secured permission to play their first two Serie A league matches away from home. These fixtures will see them face Cagliari on August 24 and Torino on August 31, respectively. The first match to be played at the Franchi stadium will be against Napoli on September 13. Until this date, the stadium`s reconstruction efforts can proceed at an accelerated pace, free from the logistical demands of hosting home games.
