Fiorentina is reportedly showing interest in Nadir Zortea, the versatile full-back currently owned by Cagliari. Having arrived a year ago for a fee of €4.5 million, his market value appears to have significantly increased, with the Sardinian club now reportedly asking for €8 million. The proposed deal structure involves a loan agreement with an obligation to buy. Zortea`s adaptability is a key asset, as he can operate effectively as a full-back on either the right or left flank, or even in a more advanced role as a winger.
Zortea recently reflected on his performance during the past season, which he described as `decidedly good`, noting his contribution of 6 goals and 2 assists. He explained, “Last year I played a slightly different role compared to previous years. I was positioned a bit more advanced, which gave me more opportunities to get close to goal. Initially, I had some difficulty adapting to the role, but by studying other players, I managed to frequently find myself in key areas and was also good at converting opportunities.” When asked about his preferred position, he stated, “Currently, I feel most comfortable as a right wing-back or full-back. This year I played quite a bit on the right, so right now I`d say I prefer playing there, but I have played on both flanks and don`t have adaptation issues. If I had to name a favourite role, I`d say right wing-back.”
He also voiced his aspirations for a potential transfer to a larger club. “I think in these years where I`ve been gaining experience, I`ve always managed to take a step up. I believe next year could be a good season, I think I`m ready and I`m eager to test myself against higher levels, if the opportunity arises.”
