The striker will miss the playoff return leg against Polissya and potentially the first group stage fixture.
Fiorentina will be without Moise Kean for two matches in the Conference League. UEFA`s disciplinary committee has issued a two-game suspension, which is the minimum penalty for a red card given due to a reaction. This decision was made as the gesture was not deemed violent enough to warrant a more severe three-match ban. Consequently, the center-forward will be unavailable for the playoff return leg on Thursday, August 28th, against Polissya. Should Fiorentina advance as expected, Kean will also miss the first group stage match, with the draw for the group stage scheduled for next Friday.
Kean received a red card in the first leg against Polissya for an elbow on Sarapii, who had previously pulled Kean`s hair during a play. Interestingly, the referee penalized only Kean, while the Ukrainian player went unpunished. For Thursday`s crucial match, Edin Dzeko is expected to step in and replace Kean. Looking ahead to the inaugural group stage fixture, Fiorentina will also have new signing Roberto Piccoli available. Piccoli is currently not on the Conference League playoff roster because he had not yet joined Fiorentina when the official squad list was submitted.
