It was announced today that Paolo Sirena, former Hellas Verona defender, has passed away at the age of 80. Born in 1945, the left-back played for the Scaliger club for eight seasons, accumulating over 200 appearances in the gialloblù shirt.
Hellas Verona FC released a statement on their social media channels regarding his death: “Hellas Verona FC expresses deep sorrow for the passing of our former captain and defender Paolo Sirena, a key figure for the gialloblù from 1969 to 1977. The Club sends its heartfelt condolences to his wife Teresa and daughters Barbara and Laura.”
