Girona is currently facing a far-from-simple summer transfer window. The Catalan club has not yet announced any new signings, fueling impatience among fans who fear a potential step back after their excellent recent seasons. The squad`s needs are clear: with the exception of the goalkeeper, all departments urgently require reinforcements, but so far, incoming transfers are lagging.
Adding to the concerns isn`t just the absence of new faces, but also potential departures. In particular, that of Miguel Gutiérrez. The left-back, born in 2001, is one of the team`s prized assets, under contract until 2027 but has been in the sights of several European clubs for weeks. Juventus, Napoli, and some Premier League teams have shown interest, but the offers received so far have been deemed too low: Girona will not accept figures below 25 million euros.
The player is expected to join the team for the start of pre-season preparation on July 8th, but it`s not certain that he will complete the entire pre-season with the squad. The risk of a sudden departure forces the management to plan countermeasures: his sale would create a significant void on the left flank, where Daley Blind can adapt but performs better centrally. In the event of his departure, at least two specific signings will be needed in that area of the pitch.
