Hellas Verona is reportedly close to completing a significant signing on a free transfer. The club is said to be on the verge of acquiring Weverson Moreira da Costa, commonly known as `Weverson`.
The Brazilian player, born in 2000, is a left-sided winger or wing-back who spent the past season at Portuguese club Arouca. During the 2024-2025 campaign, he made twenty-six league appearances, scoring one goal and providing three assists. Weverson has decided not to renew his contract with Arouca, where he spent the last three years, and is now reportedly finalizing his move to Verona as a free agent.
Weverson came through the youth ranks of the prestigious São Paulo academy in Brazil. He began his professional career in Brazil, also playing for Red Bull Bragantino between 2020 and 2022, accumulating a total of 44 appearances in the Brazilian Série A and state competitions. In January 2023, he moved to Portugal, joining Arouca. Across his three seasons there, he became a regular starter on the left flank, featuring in 56 matches and scoring 2 goals. His contract with Arouca expired at the end of the 2024-2025 season, making him a highly attractive option on the transfer market.
He also boasts experience with Brazil`s youth national teams, having been part of the squad that won the South American Under-17 Championship in 2017.
