During TMW Radio`s afternoon show `Maracanà`, journalist and former footballer Stefano Impallomeni offered his perspectives on the current football scene.
On Gudmundsson, and Fiorentina reportedly getting him at a discount:
“He needs to find his character again. Perhaps the legal issues have had an impact. Florence has faith in him, and he needs to repay this trust in a talent that hasn`t fully expressed itself yet. This move is a good one, backed by Pioli.”
Can Yildiz perform as well as or better than Dybala at Juve?
“It`s undeniable that he can follow a development path. But for now, there`s no comparison. In his first two years at Juve, Yildiz has 82 appearances and 16 goals, with 35 appearances and 7 goals in Serie A. Dybala`s first three years were stratospheric: 23 goals in his first year, 19 in the second, and 26 in the third, alongside many appearances. Yildiz needs to understand that he must score more. Currently, there`s no comparison; the Argentinian has more talent, but Yildiz can still embark on a positive journey at the club.”
Can Chivu`s Inter perform better than Inzaghi`s?
“What we see at the youth level doesn`t tell the full story. They need to work on the transfer market; then we`ll see. Replicating Inzaghi`s Inter is difficult. Chivu needs to step into the Inter environment calmly but also requires support, especially regarding transfers.”
Should Frattesi stay?
“Yes, but the key players must stay, and others need to arrive. I still see Inzaghi`s Inter looking anxious, and that`s not easy.”
Theo Hernandez potentially moving to Saudi Arabia: How would you rate his time at Milan?
“He`s a player who often gets detached from the game; he`s very inconsistent, and it`s a pity. He`s always been like that, otherwise Real wouldn`t have sold him. He had two excellent years at Milan, but he`s not an absolute champion.”
Roma, between Abraham and Dovbyk, who could impress Gasperini?
“Neither of them. Roma spent a lot on Dovbyk, just as they did on Abraham two years prior. Numbers are helpful, but they aren`t sufficient to achieve something significant. We saw what Luis Enrique did; Dovbyk lacks certain qualities. I believe Gasperini will conclude that Dovbyk is not the ideal centre-forward for his system.”
De Rossi and Sampdoria, what are your thoughts?
“It`s understandable everyone aspires to Serie A, but he also needs to adapt and restart. In my opinion, he`s taking a risk.”
