46 years after arriving in the capital, Paulo Roberto Falcao remembers the fans' welcome at Fiumicino and once again thanks Rome.

August 10, 1980 marks a special date in the history of Roma and in the career of Paulo Roberto Falcao. On that very day, the Brazilian midfielder landed at Fiumicino Airport, where he was met by approximately six thousand Giallorossi fans.

46 years later, Falcao wanted to remember that moment through a long message published on his Instagram profile, reliving the emotions he experienced upon his arrival in the capital.

FALCAO: 'ROME WELCOMED ME WITH OPEN ARMS'

This is the complete message published by the former Giallorossi midfielder on his Instagram profile:

"August 10, 1980. I landed at Fiumicino without imagining what was out there. There were over 6,000 Romans shouting my name, according to the newspapers, and I hadn't even made a single pass in that jersey yet.

Back then, it wasn't easy to know players from the other side of the world like it is today. I understood that it wasn't about me; it was about hope and love for the club. I was startled and received a hug, all at once. Rome welcomed me with open arms even before truly knowing me, and since then, I've spent my years trying to reciprocate.

Today marks 46 years since that day. Thank you, Rome."
