Venezia's American Owners Aim for Serie A Promotion with Significant Investment

August 10, 2026Pablo Navarro1 мин

Venezia is looking to leverage its iconic city image in football, following the example set by Como. A group of North American investors is serious about their commitment, with the club's first female president, Francesca Bodie, overseeing an investment of around 100 million euros to strengthen Giovanni Stroppa's team, which recently won Serie B.

The seriousness of their intentions is underscored by plans to construct a new stadium near the airport, slated for inauguration in early 2028. Their first significant move was the sale of striker Doumbia to Sporting for 23 million euros. This generated funds for a rapid recruitment drive by General Manager Antonelli, who has brought in a dozen new players.

The team's strengths are particularly evident in attack, with the acquisition of Nigerian striker ADAMS from Sevilla for 16 million euros and Kosovan forward RRAHMANI, who impressed with Sparta Prague. The defense is anchored by the promising goalkeeper Stankovic, son of a footballing legend. Reinforcements in defense include BELLA-KOTCHAP from Verona, Moroccan international HALHAL (fresh from the World Cup), and the Fiorentina player MORENO.

In midfield, the team welcomes former Lazio player BASIC, who joined as a free agent, BERARDI from Pescara, another Fiorentina player SOHM, and the Polish winger LISMAN. These new additions will support the new captain, American midfielder Busio, the heart and soul of the team.

With potential further signings still possible, Venezia presents itself as a dark horse for the season. If Stroppa, known for his promotion expertise, can effectively integrate the influx of new talent and achieve notable results, the team could surprise many. An encouraging start has already been given to the fans with a convincing 3-0 friendly victory against Galatasaray.

Projected Formation (3-5-2): Stankovic, Schingtienne, BELLA-KOTCHAP, HALHAL, CORREIA, Kike Perez, BASIC, Busio, Hainaut, Yeboah ADAMS. Coach: Stroppa.
