“Abbiamo raggiunto un traguardo eccezionale, aggiungendo un nuovo trofeo alla collezione del Bologna,” ha dichiarato Italiano. “Siamo stati bravi, e faccio i complimenti a tutti, ma è fondamentale ricordare che ora si riparte da capo. ROWES`S TALENT ARRIVES
Jonathan Rowe è giunto questa mattina per sottoporsi alle visite mediche. L`ala inglese rappresenta l`acquisto più costoso sotto la gestione Saputo, per un valore di 19,5 milioni di euro, più il 10% sulla futura rivendita destinato al Marsiglia. “Ci siamo già scambiati un saluto,” ha raccontato Italiano, “io con il mio inglese limitato e lui con il suo italiano basilare. Gli ho subito detto che deve imparare bene l`italiano entro un mese, anche se ha già avuto un allenatore italiano. Procederemo rapidamente. Possiede qualità, accelerazione, creatività e un`ottima capacità nell`uno contro uno. Speriamo di aver acquisito quel giocatore che può fare la differenza, un investimento significativo da parte del club. La qualità è ciò che decide le partite, e credo fermamente che lui la possieda in abbondanza.”
KEY ADDITIONS: ZORTEA AND HEGGEM
Con questi innesti, il reparto offensivo sulle fasce è ora al completo. Italiano ha aggiunto: “Ai nuovi arrivati dico che troveranno qui un ambiente unico, come difficilmente avranno sperimentato altrove, e questa è una delle nostre maggiori forze. Il nostro obiettivo? Procediamo per fasi: fino a dicembre-gennaio, dobbiamo rimanere competitivi in tutte e quattro le competizioni. Vogliamo arrivare alla fine del primo semestre avendo ancora qualcosa di importante da giocarci, proprio come l`anno scorso. Riguardo a Zortea, sono molto soddisfatto; abbiamo inserito un giocatore di grande qualità con le caratteristiche ideali per il nostro modulo, un ragazzo che desideravamo e siamo felici di avere in rosa. E Berna e Ferguson? Hanno superato i loro problemi fisici. Non sono al massimo della condizione atletica come gli altri, ma la loro determinazione è immensa, come sempre. Heggem è molto motivato; inizialmente sembrava un po` disorientato, ma è un difensore completo, tenace e concentrato, abile con entrambi i piedi, un acquisto di grande valore.”
READY FOR BATTLES AGAINST GASPERINI
Dopo la sconfitta nell`amichevole contro l`OFI Creta, Italiano era stato perentorio: qualcuno, dopo la vittoria della Coppa Italia, si era rilassato, e ora è essenziale ritrovare la fame agonistica. I giocatori avranno ritrovato la giusta concentrazione? “Quando siamo pienamente concentrati e la `spina è attaccata`, siamo una squadra eccezionale; ma non appena caliamo in queste caratteristiche, diventiamo una squadra ordinaria, facile da superare. Il momento in cui non siamo in possesso palla diventa problematico, mentre l`anno scorso avevamo gestito quella fase magistralmente. Dobbiamo ritrovare quelle certezze. E la Roma? Proprio come è successo a me lo scorso anno, hanno un nuovo allenatore e necessitano di tempo per assimilare i nuovi schemi. Tuttavia, la loro squadra è di alta qualità, e le idee di Gasperini sono già visibili. Le partite contro le sue formazioni sono sempre state di grande intensità. Dobbiamo essere aggressivi e capaci di fargli male. Tutti sanno come gioca Gasperini, con la sua marcatura a uomo, quindi dovremo essere attenti e pronti a reagire. Quest`anno ci sarà spazio per tutti: Castro deve ritrovare la fiducia in fase realizzativa, e abbiamo una vasta gamma di talenti in ogni ruolo. Se tutti capiscono che anche chi subentra dalla panchina può decidere le partite, allora possiamo essere veramente letali.”
IMMOBILE: ANCORA FATALE SOTTOPORTA
Il direttore generale Claudio Fenucci “ha avuto un colloquio di mezz`ora con la squadra e ho apprezzato molto il suo intervento, ribadendo che, come già accaduto l`anno scorso, qualcuno resterà escluso dalla lista.” Manca forse un centrocampista? “Attualmente, un giocatore per reparto è destinato a rimanere fuori; se dovesse arrivare un centrocampista, sarebbe sacrificato dalla Lista UEFA. Mancano ancora alcuni giorni alla chiusura del mercato e due partite da disputare, quindi vedremo come si evolveranno le cose.” Ciro Immobile si appresta a tornare all`Olimpico. “Come Berna, mostra una grandissima determinazione, ha la fisicità di un giovane, un buon fisico, attacca gli spazi e non sembra affatto un trentacinquenne,” ha concluso Italiano. “Continua a fare quei movimenti da attaccante che è sempre stato e che tuttora è. Spero che rimanga desideroso, affamato e implacabile. Sono lieto di averlo a disposizione; parla molto con Castro, e se Santi saprà imparare da chi gli sta accanto, potrà solo migliorare. So che i tifosi non vedono l`ora di vederlo segnare, e sono convinto che i gol arriveranno.”

ROWE`S TALENT ARRIVES
Jonathan Rowe arrived this morning to undergo medical examinations. The English winger represents the most expensive acquisition under the Saputo era, valued at 19.5 million euros, plus a 10% sell-on clause for Marseille. “We`ve already exchanged greetings,” Italiano recounted, “I with my limited English and he with his basic Italian. I immediately told him he needs to learn Italian well within a month, even if he`s already had an Italian coach. We`ll proceed quickly. He possesses quality, acceleration, creativity, and excellent one-on-one ability. We hope to have acquired that player who can make a difference, a significant investment by the club. Italiano added: “To all the new guys, I say they will find a unique environment here, unlike anything they`ve likely experienced elsewhere, and this is one of our greatest strengths. Our objective? We`re taking it `step by step`: until December-January, we must remain competitive in all four competitions. Our goal is to reach the end of the first half of the season with something significant still to play for, just like last year. Regarding Zortea, I am very pleased; we`ve brought in a player of great quality with ideal characteristics for our system, a player we wanted, and we`re happy to have him in the squad. And Berna and Ferguson? Their physical problems are behind them. They don`t have the same `fuel` as the others yet, but their desire is immense, as always. Heggem is very charged; in the first few days, he seemed a bit disoriented, but he is a complete defender, tough and focused, good with both feet, a valuable acquisition.”

Following the friendly defeat against OFI Crete, Italiano was emphatic: some players, after winning the Coppa Italia, had become complacent, and it`s now essential to rediscover their competitive hunger. Have the players regained their focus? “When we are fully concentrated and `plugged in,` we are an exceptional team; but as soon as we drop these characteristics, we become an ordinary team, easy to break down. The moment we don`t have the ball becomes problematic, whereas last year we managed that phase masterfully. We must regain that certainty. And Roma? Just as it happened to me last year, they have a new coach and need time to assimilate the new tactics. However, their squad is of high quality, and Gasperini`s ideas are already visible. Matches against his teams have always been of great intensity. We must be aggressive and capable of hurting them. Everyone knows how Gasperini plays, with his man-to-man marking, so we will need to be careful and ready to react. This year there will be room for everyone: Castro needs to regain his goal-scoring confidence, and we have a wide range of talents in every position. If everyone understands that even those coming off the bench can decide matches, then we can truly be lethal.”
IMMOBILE: STILL DEADLY IN FRONT OF GOAL
General Manager Claudio Fenucci “spoke with the team for half an hour, and I really appreciated his intervention, reiterating that, as happened last year, someone will be excluded from the squad list.” Is a midfielder still missing? “Currently, one player per department is set to be left out; if a midfielder were to arrive, they would be sacrificed from the UEFA list.
