Preview Italy National Team: New Faces and Key Absences for Estonia & Israel Qualifiers

Gennaro Gattuso has unveiled his latest squad selection for the Italian national team`s upcoming FIFA World Cup qualifiers. The Azzurri are set to face Estonia on October 11th and Israel on October 14th. This new call-up brings several notable changes, featuring two fresh faces and a total of six alterations from the previous September squad, including the strategic absence of a dedicated center-forward.

A prominent omission from this roster is Federico Chiesa. Despite his impressive resurgence in form with Liverpool, the national team coach has indicated that there will be ample opportunities for his return to the squad in future fixtures, opting to manage his workload for these upcoming matches.

Among the exciting new additions making their way into the squad are Fiorentina`s Hans Nicolussi Caviglia and Bologna`s Nicolò Cambiaghi. Nicolussi Caviglia has experienced a remarkably swift ascent, transitioning from Serie B to the national team setup in just over a month. Cambiaghi, on the other hand, has earned his spot through consistent hard work and a steady climb through the ranks. These two effectively step into the roles previously held by Giovanni Fabbian and Daniel Maldini, respectively. Notably, striker Gianluca Scamacca, who was initially called up in September but later forced to withdraw due to injury, is not present in this selection. In the midfield, Bryan Cristante of AS Roma has been chosen over AC Milan`s Samuele Ricci to cover for the injured Rovella.
