Preview Juve-Inter: Carlos Augusto Could Replace Dimarco

The regular starter has played two national team matches, while the former Monza player trained at Appiano: the coach will decide at the last minute.

Inter is contemplating a change on the left flank, considering a different left-sided wing-back than the usual starter, particularly for the crucial match against Juventus. At the Stadium, Carlos Augusto might start in place of Federico Dimarco. This is the significant temptation on the eve of the Derby d`Italia. Coach Chivu will make his final decision after a night`s consideration at the Nerazzurri`s team hotel in central Turin. If Carlos Augusto is chosen, it will be for technical reasons, even though both left-sided players in the 3-5-2 formation are physically fit. Nevertheless, the events of the last two weeks, following the defeat against Udinese, have also influenced the Romanian coach`s considerations.

The Scenario

The Brazilian, not called up by Carlo Ancelotti for national team duties, was able to train with teammates who weren`t involved with their national squads. Dimarco, on the other hand, immediately left Appiano to join the new national coach Rino Gattuso. He started in both Azzurri matches, playing 67 minutes against Estonia and 79 against Israel. Prior to that, with Inter, he had also started the first two Serie A games but did not complete either: he was substituted in the 66th minute against Torino and the 83rd minute against Udinese. Conversely, Carlos Augusto, who has yet to start a game this season, has accumulated just over half an hour of play, totaling 31 minutes, in this early part of the season. The Brazilian could, therefore, reverse this trend at the Stadium, before likely making way for Dimarco again for the Champions League debut in Amsterdam on Wednesday.
