Juventus is facing mounting tension with Timothy Weah, who, along with Samuel Mbangula, was notably excluded from the match against Manchester City in the Club World Cup. The Bianconeri club, having reached an agreement with Nottingham Forest for the transfer of both players, was met with a firm refusal from the American winger, who does not consider the Premier League the right destination to continue his career.
The situation exploded after the club`s decision to leave them out of the squad list. Weah posted a cryptic but eloquent message on social media, speaking of faith and resilience during difficulties. Shortly before, Mbangula had also expressed his displeasure on Instagram regarding his exclusion. However, the true rupture occurred with the words of Weah`s agent, Badou Sambague: “It`s a disgrace. No one can treat him like a puppet. Timo has education and personality; he will remain focused.”
This strong stance puts Juventus in a difficult position. The club intended to sell both players for approximately 25 million euros and reinvest part of the proceeds in Jadon Sancho, currently on his way out of Manchester United. The Bianconeri still hope to finalize the operation by June 30, but the players` wishes risk blocking everything. In a press conference, coach Igor Tudor confirmed that the exclusion was linked to market reasons but avoided fueling further controversy. Meanwhile, according to leaks, the problem for Weah is not the financial offer but the destination: the former Lille player, acquired in 2023 for around 12 million, wants to stay at Juventus or at least evaluate alternatives other than Nottingham. The coming hours will be decisive to understand if a solution can be found or if the rift with the club is now irreparable.
