CD Leganes has officially announced the acquisition of Marvelous Antolin Garzon, widely recognized simply as Marvel, from Real Madrid Castilla. The promising 22-year-old central defender has committed his future to Leganes, signing a three-year contract that will keep him at the club until 2028. Marvel joins the `Pepinero` (cucumber growers – a popular nickname for Leganes) squad following a successful loan spell last season with Cordoba CF in the Spanish Segunda Division, where he notably made 28 appearances.
Born in Casablanca, Morocco, Marvel was adopted by a Spanish family at the age of three. His foundational footballing development took place within the prestigious youth academies of several prominent Spanish clubs, including Atletico Madrid, Alcala, and Rayo Vallecano. He later joined Real Madrid`s esteemed academy in 2016. Known for his commanding physical presence and impressive left-footed passing ability, Marvel has also had the honor of representing Spain at the Under-19 international level.
Marvel`s entire professional journey has unfolded exclusively within Spain. His career path saw him progress through the ranks of Atletico Madrid and Rayo Vallecano before his tenure at Real Madrid, which also included the aforementioned loan to Cordoba. He accumulated eight appearances in the UEFA Youth League for the *Merengues* (Real Madrid`s nickname) and an impressive 52 matches for Real Madrid Castilla. While he did not feature for the senior first team, this new chapter with Leganes is poised to help him achieve the significant milestone of 100 professional appearances, a remarkable feat for a player of just 22 years old.
