Racing Club de Lens has officially announced the acquisition of promising goalkeeper Robin Risser, a 20-year-old who is already a regular in the French Under-21 national team. This significant signing follows just a few days after the club secured Mattia Fortin, who was acquired from Padova but immediately loaned back to his original club for the upcoming season.
Risser`s career trajectory has seen him previously under contract with Strasbourg, with loan spells at Dijon and Red Star Belgrade. He has now committed his long-term future to Lens, signing a contract that extends until 2030. He is expected to step directly into the role of the club`s first-choice goalkeeper.
Club`s Official Statement on Risser`s Arrival
“Robin Risser is now part of Racing Club de Lens. A goalkeeper of great promise and talent, whose career has seen a consistent and impressive ascent, Robin Risser now joins the Artois region. Hailing from Colmar and a vital member of the French Under-21 national squad, he has committed to Racing for the next five seasons and will assume the crucial role of our number one goalkeeper.”
Sporting Director`s Endorsement of the New Signing
Jean-Louis Leca, the Sporting Director of Racing Club de Lens, conveyed his immense satisfaction regarding the club`s newest addition:
“I am incredibly pleased to welcome Robin to Racing for the next five seasons. His profile perfectly aligns with what we sought for our primary goalkeeper: a well-rounded player with substantial potential for growth, an impressive wingspan, and a natural aptitude for one-on-one duels. Beyond his technical footballing skills, Robin is a remarkably hardworking and disciplined individual. These human qualities are paramount for the development of any young player and strongly reinforce the suitability of his profile for our club.”
“At just 20 years old, he stands out as one of the finest talents of his generation in his position. He has already proven his vast potential through consistently strong performances in lower leagues and his regular call-ups to the French Under-21 national team. He is joining a nurturing and well-structured environment here at Lens, where he will benefit from the guidance of experienced players and daily support from Cédric Berthelin and our entire coaching staff. We believe all the necessary elements are in place for him to elevate his game to a new level and firmly establish himself in Ligue 1. We place our full confidence in him to achieve this significant objective!”
