Sevilla has officially confirmed the departure of midfielders Albert Sambi Lokonga and Saul Niguez from the club. This announcement marks the conclusion of their respective loan periods in Spanish football, which were reportedly hindered by a combination of physical setbacks and struggles with form.
Albert Sambi Lokonga, the 25-year-old Belgian midfielder, arrived at the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán Stadium with considerable expectations placed upon him as a potential pivot in the team. However, injuries unfortunately played a significant role in limiting his overall impact during his time with the Andalusian club.
Similarly, Saul Ñiguez was signed on loan with the clear intention of strengthening the midfield unit and bringing his extensive experience, particularly from his successful years under Diego Simeone at Atlético Madrid. Despite his pedigree, recurring physical issues also prevented Saul from consistently performing at his best for Sevilla.
Following the termination of their loan agreements, Lokonga will return to his parent club, Arsenal, while Saul Ñiguez will head back to the Spanish capital to rejoin Atlético Madrid, known affectionately as the *Colchoneros*.
Official Club Statement:
`As the official conclusion of the season approaches, set for June 30th, and their association with the club comes to an end, Sevilla FC wishes to express its sincere gratitude to Sambi Lokonga and Saúl Ñíguez for the professionalism and dedication they have demonstrated throughout this past season, during which they proudly wore the Sevilla shirt. The club extends its very best wishes to both players for their future professional careers.`
The statement also detailed the players` contributions: `Albert Sambi Lokonga, who joined from Arsenal FC, made 23 appearances for Sevilla and registered two assists. Saúl Ñíguez, on loan from Atlético de Madrid, featured in 26 official matches, scoring one goal and providing six assists.`
Sevilla FC reiterated its thanks to both athletes for their time spent on loan with the team during the recently concluded season.
