Lorenzo Lucca, Napoli`s significant new attacking acquisition from Udinese for approximately 35 million euros, was officially presented from the team`s training camp in Dimaro. The forward expressed his enthusiasm for this new chapter, stating that Napoli was his “first choice” and that he knows “where I want to get to.”
During the press conference, Lucca discussed his relationship with coach Antonio Conte and his new teammate Romelu Lukaku. Regarding Conte, he asserted: “He has won so much; I can only learn from him, both tactically and mentally.” Lucca conveyed his admiration for Lukaku: “He is a fantastic player, having a great career. He is a player from whom I can gain many positive things. I can`t wait to get on the field and play with him; just a few years ago, I only saw him on TV.”
Lucca also reflected on his personal development and the contribution he intends to make to Napoli: “I have improved in all aspects since arriving in Serie A. I need to enhance my teamwork; before, I only thought about scoring goals. I must strive to be focused and help my teammates play well.” He then touched upon the national team: “I spoke with Gattuso in the summer. I came here because it was my primary objective. It has always been my first choice. It`s a journey that is beginning and can end well, hoping to make the most of my opportunities for the World Cup.”
Romelu Lukaku also spoke, confirming the intensity of working under Conte: “I feel good; we are working in the right way. Working with Conte is always tough: he always wants to improve, and we also work to do better day by day.” Lukaku praised Lucca, stating: “I try to help him, especially with the tactical aspects. He`s a good guy and can help the team a lot. With him, we have an extra weapon to defend the Scudetto.” Finally, he welcomed Kevin De Bruyne: “I`ve known him for many years; he`s a very straightforward guy. Now I hope he will be a protagonist with Napoli, just as he was with City and the national team. We are all very happy he is here with us.”
