Luis García Tevenet is concluding his time at Atlético Madrid to begin a new role as assistant coach to Davide Ancelotti at Botafogo. This move comes after Tevenet served as an assistant to Diego Simeone with the first team during the 2024/25 season, a promotion earned through his impressive work with the club`s youth squads.
A former player himself, Tevenet notably played for both Atlético Madrid and Sevilla during his career. Before taking on senior coaching roles, he coached in Spain for over a decade. In 2021, he was appointed head coach of Atlético Madrid B, where he achieved significant success, securing two consecutive promotions – first to Segunda RFEF in 2021/22 and then to Primera RFEF in 2022/23 – demonstrating tactical solidity and attractive football.
Atlético Madrid acknowledged Tevenet`s contributions in their official statement announcing his departure, commending his commitment, professionalism, and dedication during his time at the club. The Spanish capital side wished him “good luck for future professional challenges.” Tevenet is now set to become Davide Ancelotti`s key assistant at Botafogo, the reigning Copa Libertadores champions, as he embarks on a new chapter of his coaching career in Brazil.
