Preview Marotta: “Napoli is the Clear Favorite for the Scudetto. Palestra is Not an Objective”

The Nerazzurri President: `Conte is a good communicator, but his team is the favorite.` And on the transfer market: `We won`t hold anyone back, but Frattesi never expressed the intention to leave.`

Inter CEO Beppe Marotta

The customary verbal sparring between Antonio Conte and Giuseppe Marotta continues. Earlier, following his team’s victory over Cremonese, the coach had stated: “Napoli is not yet in a position to dominate for many reasons. We have just started a journey and are not structurally ready. Juventus, Milan, and Inter are different in terms of structure, secondary teams, wage bills, and asset values. If another team wins besides these three, they have achieved something extraordinary. You cannot ignore the difference in resources, even if you try to close that gap on the field; we are talking about different realities.”

Marotta’s Reply

Marotta’s response was delivered to DAZN before the match against Atalanta. “I do not want to engage in controversy. Conte is a good coach and a good communicator. He knows how to distract attention and shift the focus. Napoli is clearly the favorite. They are the reigning champions, they have invested significant money, and they have technical continuity, being the only top side not to have changed their coach. We [Inter] have modified our model and invested in young players. We will all fight until the end, but I believe Napoli, purely on merit, is the serious candidate for the final victory.”

Marotta then addressed matters concerning the transfer market.

Regarding Frattesi: “We do not want to hold anyone back against their will. However, that is not the case with Frattesi because he has not expressed any intention of leaving. We will have the opportunity to discuss this with him.”

He concluded by ruling out any possible arrival of Palestra: “I can exclude Palestra as an objective of ours. He is an Atalanta player; it is pointless to pursue paths that lead nowhere. We know the market is limited, with few opportunities, but Inter and other clubs have an obligation to check if we can add something to this squad.”
