In a recent extensive interview, former Juventus midfielder Blaise Matuidi spoke on various topics, including the contingent of French players currently in the Juve squad.

Matuidi expressed his delight at seeing so many Frenchmen at the club, noting, “It`s actually a tradition; there has always been a small French colony at Juve. I met them at the Club World Cup, and they all seemed enthusiastic about being part of this club.”

Among the current players, Khéphren Thuram was singled out. Matuidi highlighted Thuram`s emergence as a fundamental piece in his debut season, stating it confirms Juve`s decision to back him was correct. He emphasized that Thuram is still young and must continue working, adding that he is in the ideal environment for development.

Regarding Kolo Muani, the former midfielder held no doubts: “I would stay if I were him. At Juve, you have the opportunity to improve every day. I hope he gets signed permanently, also because with the potential arrival of Jonathan David, they could form a perfect partnership. They are complementary profiles.”

It was also impossible not to discuss Kenan Yildiz, whom Matuidi called an “amazing talent.” He was impressed by Yildiz on TV but even more so live at the World Cup. Matuidi sees him as a symbol of a young team that requires patience. While acknowledging the pressure to win immediately, he believes the club is on the right path and many of these young players will develop into champions.

Matuidi suggested that the young squad could benefit from experienced figures like Granit Xhaka. He stated that while he doesn`t know the club`s specific plans, Xhaka`s potential arrival would be positive due to his extensive international experience, which could provide significant support.

Concerning seasonal objectives, Matuidi ruled nothing out: “The squad has quality. With the right additions, you can even aim for the Scudetto.”

Few of Matuidi`s old teammates remain at the club, naming Pinsoglio, Rugani, and Perin. He also spoke respectfully about Danilo`s departure: “I don`t know what happened, but it`s a choice to respect. He gave a lot. Perhaps it was simply time to begin a new cycle.”

Finally, Matuidi offered important words for Damien Comolli, the new Bianconeri director. He knew Comolli from their time at Saint-Étienne, describing him as someone who “lives and breathes football,” possessing both experience and vision. Matuidi is convinced Comolli will perform very well at Juventus, calling him “the right man for this new phase.”
