Burnley, the newly-promoted Premier League club, has significantly strengthened its goalkeeping department with the acquisition of Max Weiss. The Clarets, who secured their return to the top flight after an impressive 100-point season in the Championship, are diligently preparing for the demanding English top-flight campaign. They have secured the services of the promising young shot-stopper, born in 2004, from German second-tier side Karlsruher SC. This move marks Weiss`s first professional experience outside Germany, having penned a four-year deal with Burnley that runs until 2029.

Weiss on His Burnley Move

“I am truly thrilled to be here. This is an extraordinary club with significant ambitions, and every conversation I`ve had with people here has been incredibly positive. The training ground facilities are superb, the pitches are beautiful, and I`m really looking forward to starting pre-season and getting to know the rest of the squad.”

Official Club Statement

In an official statement, Burnley Football Club confirmed the transfer: “Burnley is delighted to announce the arrival of goalkeeper Max Weiß from Karlsruher SC on a four-year contract for an undisclosed fee.”

The statement continued, detailing his background and career progression:

“Born in Speyer, Germany, the young goalkeeper developed through the youth ranks of TSG Hoffenheim and SV Sandhausen before joining Karlsruher SC`s academy in 2019. After consistently impressing between the posts, he signed his first professional contract with the club in 2022. He subsequently became the starting goalkeeper for the 2023/24 season, playing every match and contributing significantly to the club`s eighth-place finish in the 2. Bundesliga.”

“On the international stage, Weiß has proudly represented Germany at U18, U19, and U20 levels and will continue his development here in Lancashire under the club`s guidance as he embarks on this exciting new chapter in his career.”
