AC Milan is actively pursuing transfer targets, with recent developments concerning Adrien Rabiot, Manuel Akanji, and Yunus Musah. Rabiot`s mother-agent has re-established contact with the Rossoneri, despite initial resistance, in an attempt to resolve his situation with Marseille. Meanwhile, the future of Yunus Musah remains uncertain, even with an existing agreement in place with Atalanta.

Rabiot: Renewed Contact and Marseille Tensions

AC Milan has reopened dialogue with Veronique Rabiot, the French midfielder`s mother and agent. This marks a shift from his previous firm intention to stay at Marseille, indicating a new willingness to discuss a move. This development follows recent critical remarks from Marseille President Longoria and coach De Zerbi. De Zerbi notably advised Rabiot to apologize for his actions in Rennes, which he believes were amplified by the player`s entourage, adding pressure to the situation.

With the transfer market rapidly closing, Rabiot will need to request a transfer if he chooses not to reconcile with Marseille. Milan`s key figures, including CEO Furlani, Technical Director Tare, and Zlatan Ibrahimović, are prepared to act, working in coordination with coach Massimiliano Allegri, who has explicitly requested Rabiot. Should Adrien join, Milan intends to sell Yunus Musah to Atalanta for €25 million plus bonuses, despite a recent injury to Jashari. However, Marseille`s asking price of €15 million for Rabiot is currently deemed too high by Milan.

Akanji: Defensive Target Hits Salary and Champions League Hurdles

Manuel Akanji of Manchester City remains Milan`s top defensive target, valued at €15 million plus bonuses by his current club. While an agreement with Manchester City is not an issue, Milan faces the challenge of convincing Akanji himself, who is reluctant to forgo his €5 million salary. Another significant obstacle is the Swiss defender`s desire to play in the Champions League, which gives Tottenham an advantage over the Rossoneri. Crystal Palace is a distant third option, while Galatasaray is out of the race. Technical Director Tare confirmed that a central defender will be acquired following a tactical formation change, describing Akanji as the “ideal profile” due to his experience and quality, though he has not yet been persuaded.

Offensive Strategy and Potential Exchanges

In attack, Milan plans to proceed with its current squad, with Nkunku being the only planned addition, as coach Allegri favors a three-man defense formation (3-5-2 or 3-4-2-1). The offensive lineup currently includes Gimenez, Nkunku, Leao, and Pulisic, with Saelemaekers and Chukwueze available if needed; Fulham has not yet submitted an offer for Chukwueze. Tare, however, did not rule out a potential Gimenez-Dovbyk swap deal with Roma, stating, “Numerically we are fine, but we are evaluating an exchange.” A proposal to sign Mitrovic, currently sidelined by Al Hilal, was rejected by Milan.
