AC Monza kicked off their pre-season with a commanding 4-1 victory over Swiss side Collina d`Oro in their first summer friendly, held at the Silvio e Luigi Berlusconi-Monzello Sports Center.
The game sprang to life in the 13th minute when Colpani opened the scoring with a masterful low free-kick that kissed the post before finding the back of the net. Monza`s tempo increased, leading to their second goal in the 20th minute, courtesy of Sardo, who clinically finished a superb play initiated by Dany Mota, marking his first goal in the white and red colours. The home side continued to press, narrowly missing a third goal with a header from Mota and a volley from Caprari. However, in the 27th minute, Collina d`Oro pulled one back with a powerful long-range left-footed shot from Josipovic. Monza remained a threat, with Caprari coming close to scoring again before the halftime whistle.
The second half saw Coach Bianco introduce several changes, including Maric and Keita, who immediately showcased good chemistry. Despite a goal from Keita being disallowed for offside in the 52nd minute, Monza maintained control. In the 70th minute, Maric earned a penalty, which Petagna calmly converted in the 71st minute, extending Monza`s lead to 3-1. Towards the end, promising young players like Domanico and Zanni were given playing time. The match concluded with Monza`s fourth goal in the 84th minute, a brilliant solo effort by Maric, who dribbled past defenders and fired a precise low left-footed shot into the net.
The match ended 4-1 in favour of Monza, who will play their second summer friendly against Giana on Thursday, July 24th, also at the Silvio e Luigi Berlusconi-Monzello Sports Center.
