Inter`s New Striker Shares His Musical Tastes: `She is my favorite singer; when I listen to `L’appuntamento`, it feels like scoring a goal.`

The esteemed singer Ornella Vanoni recently discovered she has an unexpected admirer: “There`s a 21-year-old guy who loves your music. He`s French and plays football in Serie A…” This is how Vanoni learned about the interview in Gazzetta dello Sport with Ange-Yoan Bonny, Inter`s new forward with sophisticated musical tastes. She immediately felt compelled to respond, delivering a message directly to the same newspaper: “Dear Bonny, what you said is a great honor for me…” wrote the Milanese artist, who will turn 91 in September and has a long-standing connection with France. Throughout her career, she has performed duets with Charles Aznavour and, more recently, toured in France with Paolo Fresu.
Farewell to Milan
Bonny revealed he was captivated by Vanoni`s voice, which he first heard at his agent`s home. Her slightly French-sounding tone reminded him of home and his mother, who introduced him to soul and jazz. His favorite song is “L`appuntamento,” the iconic and poignant 1970 track. “When I listen to it, I feel something magical. It`s like scoring a goal…” the French player continued. Faced with these heartfelt words, even Ornella`s long-standing allegiance to AC Milan wavered. She, who once cheered for Rivera, might soon be a guest at San Siro, supporting the Nerazzurri: “I swear I`m no longer a Milan fan, and I`ll come to watch you play…” she conveyed to Bonny. It remains to be seen if Inter will soon secure a seat for her in the stands, but for now, the invitation has been extended, echoing her own lyrics: Amore, perdono, ma non resisto… (Love, forgive me, but I cannot resist…).
