Palermo is actively seeking a new goalkeeper to complement Alfred Gomis for the upcoming season. This pursuit follows the departures of Salvatore Sirigu and Emil Audero, although a faint hope remains for Audero`s potential return to Sicily. Among their primary targets is Jonathan Klinsmann from Cesena, and the club is reportedly prepared to orchestrate a significant swap deal to acquire his services.
Cesena, often referred to as the “bianconeri,” is reportedly open to transferring the American-born Klinsmann (born in 1997), provided a suitable offer that reflects his value is presented. In response, Palermo, known as the “rosanero,” has proposed midfielder Valerio Verre (born in 1994) as part of the exchange. Verre currently does not feature in coach Inzaghi`s plans and was notably not included in the squad for the pre-season training camp. Last season, he contributed two goals in 28 appearances for the Sicilian club. However, current reports suggest that Verre is not a highly appealing prospect for Cesena`s management.
Instead of Verre, Cesena is reportedly more interested in acquiring young central defender Patryk Peda (born in 2002), who demonstrated promising qualities during the latter half of last season while on loan with Juve Stabia. Currently, Palermo considers Peda to be non-transferable, but the dynamics of the situation could potentially evolve in the coming weeks.
