The former Lazio midfielder was found unconscious in his Poole home by a friend and rushed to an emergency medical unit. His condition is reported as stable.

Paul Gascoigne is once again at the center of a worrying incident. The life of the former Lazio playmaker, now 58, has long been marked by difficulties, particularly alcoholism. He was found collapsed and semi-conscious in his bedroom in Poole, southern England, by a friend. Initially admitted to intensive care on Friday evening, `Gazza` has since been transferred to an emergency medical unit, and his condition is now considered stable.
Necessary Treatment
The news was first reported by `The Sun,` which quoted Steve Foster, Gascoigne`s friend and assistant who found and rescued him. Foster stated, “Paul would like to thank everyone for the support received from so many old friends who wish him the best and want to see him return to his best.” It`s a continuous cycle of hopes and relapses for `Gazza,` who last year had already resumed attending Alcoholics Anonymous meetings. Currently out of danger, Gascoigne is recovering in a hospital near his home and is expected to remain there for several days to receive necessary treatment. Foster explained that he rushed Gascoigne to the hospital after finding him, adding, “He`s in hospital, which is the best place for him to be right now.”
