The French midfielder reflects on his time in Turin and looks ahead to his new chapter.
Paul Pogba expressed his lasting affection for Juventus at his Monaco presentation. “I have always loved and will always love Juve. This club helped me become who I am today,” he stated. Reflecting on his time and recent doping ban, which led to his contract termination, he acknowledged that “many things happened,” with “some people having their way of doing things.” He noted aspects he liked and disliked but emphasized he would “never disrespect the club.” Pogba added, “Today I am happy, and I think they are too. We move forward, without waging wars.”
He clarified previous comments about feeling isolated during his ban, specifying who did offer support: “Agnelli used to send me messages and call me, and I call that support. When you don`t receive calls from people who are at the club, you don`t have support. I`m not saying it`s the wrong way to do things, it`s just a different way of seeing things. Chiellini, who arrived later, sent me messages, as did other Juventus players,” he added.
At 32, the Frenchman is now focused on the future. “A year ago, I said I wasn`t dead,” he remarked. “My dream is to see my children celebrate a goal with a `dab`. Today I think about the future, not the past,” he concluded. He mentioned speaking with France coach Didier Deschamps, who felt his move to Monaco was positive. Pogba understands the path back to the national team: “It`s normal to want to play for the national team, but there are steps to respect, and the place has to be earned. France has a great group, it depends on me.”
