The recent sale of Tammy Abraham to Besiktas has provided some financial relief for AS Roma, allowing the club to intensify its activity in the transfer market. According to reports from Italy, the Giallorossi are aiming to bring in at least two new players before the start of pre-season training.
With the training camp scheduled to begin on July 13, coach Gian Piero Gasperini is keen to integrate new signings into the squad as early as possible. A meeting between Gasperini and Sporting Director Gianluca Massara is expected to take place soon to finalise targets. The primary focus for reinforcements is reportedly on wide players and forwards.
While exploring options, the club is said to be monitoring players like De Cuyper and Wesley. However, the potential transfer fee for the Brazilian forward Wesley is currently considered to be excessive.
Despite the search for new talent, generating funds and reducing the wage bill remains a top priority for the club. Further player sales will be necessary to balance the books, even if it means parting ways with players who aren`t necessarily unwanted but attract suitable offers or don`t fully align with Gasperini`s strategic vision.
Among the players expected to leave are Angelino, whose potential move to Al-Hilal did not materialise, and Eldor Shomurodov. The futures of Ola Solbakken and Marash Kumbulla are still under evaluation. Leandro Paredes is also set for a departure. Although Boca Juniors did not trigger his €3.5 million release clause before its expiry, the Argentine club is now reportedly seeking to negotiate a discounted fee for the 2022 World Cup-winning midfielder, who is expected to return to Argentina.
