Following the initial taste of action last weekend, Serie A is back with its second matchday. The round kicks off on Friday at 6:30 PM with Cremonese vs. Sassuolo, followed by Lecce vs. Milan at 8:45 PM. Four matches will conclude the round before the international break on Sunday, August 31st: Genoa vs. Juventus and Torino vs. Fiorentina both at 6:30 PM, and Inter vs. Udinese and Lazio vs. Verona at 8:45 PM. Having already covered the top goalkeepers, midfielders, and forwards, we now present the three best defenders to deploy in your fantasy football lineup for this second matchday.

The Top Pick: Bremer (Juventus)

Our top defender recommendation for the second round of the Fantasy Championship is Bremer (36 credits). He made his return to the field after a lengthy knee injury layoff and immediately spearheaded the Juventus defense in their debut victory against Parma. With a solid 7 rating to start the season, he`s poised to face Genoa, who are coming off a lackluster 0-0 draw against Lecce. Perhaps the Brazilian could even find the back of the net, a feat he hasn`t accomplished since the end of the 2023-24 season.

The Certainty: Dodô (Fiorentina)

Dodô of Fiorentina (29 credits) proved to be a constant menace for Cagliari`s defense during Sunday afternoon`s 1-1 draw. His respectable 6.5 rating reflects this, and the upcoming match against Torino, scheduled for Sunday at 6:30 PM, could further highlight the wing-back`s qualities. Dodô boasts a previous season with 35 appearances and five assists, achieving a fantasy average of 6.2. He is still seeking his first Serie A goal, and if he continues to push forward on the flank with such intensity, it might come very soon.

The Bet: Jacobo Ramon (Como)

One of the new faces in Serie A and for Fabregas`s Como is central defender Jacobo Ramon (7 credits). The 20-year-old Spaniard arrived this summer from Real Madrid Castilla and performed commendably in his Serie A debut against Lazio, despite facing players like Castellanos and Zaccagni. Following an almost perfect league opener, it`s highly probable that this central defender will once again anchor the defense in Saturday`s match against Bologna. In the past, he has also shown a threat from set pieces, making him an intriguing bet for your Fantasy Championship squad.
